Interview with Pop Artist Dani Marchio Artist Interviews

Interview with Pop Artist Dani Marchio on her new music & more

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

Dani Marchio: My love for music began very early. As a little kid I began singing in my local church, would always take any talent show I could and began doing open mic nights at my local cafe. I started writing music at the end of high school when another songwriter/producer offered to teach me how. I only really got deep into songwriting at about 19 when I met Nick Paton, an incredible songwriter and producer with a passion for pop music in particular. We were put together in a songwriting session and through there he took me under his wing and we wrote each week for almost a year. Somewhere along the way we also started dating which made everything so exciting as well! As time went on I just fell in love with the ins and outs of pop music and the craft of songwriting, both practically and emotionally. It has really become an emotional outlet for me almost as an extension of my personal diary at times.

Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

Dani Marchio: I grew up loving all of the pop girls in the industry. It all began with little Dani absolutely loving Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus, then Ariana grande, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, and Tori Kelly quickly followed. I was also shaped by artists like Norah Jones and Missy Higgins who were known for their honest and raw music as I was learning to sing. I still draw from there, but now find influence in some of the greats like Queen, Prince, The Beatles, etc as well as I have grown.

What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

Dani Marchio: My hope for my music and career is to share my music and my story with as many people that will listen. I am so passionate about making honest music that brings joy and inspiration to wherever it is being played.

What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

Dani Marchio: I would honestly have to say it was Chappell Roan. I saw her just before she blew up this year and her stage presence, vocals and whole energy was so electric!

You just released your debut single ‘Daydreamer’, which is amazing! How does it feel to finally launch your music career?

Dani Marchio: Thank you so much! It feels so incredible and weird and surreal. I have been dreaming about releasing music for so long. I still remember feeling like this was so far of reach for me or just not in the cards at all, so finally taking this step has been so exciting. It is such a blessing to be able to do what I love doing alongside such incredible people, and even better that it is being received so wonderfully!
Definitely making little Dani super proud with this one.

What inspired ‘Daydreamer’? What was your process like to create the song?

Dani Marchio: We wrote this song about a year and a half ago in just a few hours. It was originally written to pitch to another artist and I just felt so connected to it that I couldn’t resist keeping it for myself. It was inspired by the relationship that I had recently gotten into at the time with my co-writer/ producer, Nick, so it was a bit cute that we could write it together. We had some great references that we were pulling from, then it really just wrote itself as a team effort between the two of us.

How would you describe the music that you make?

Dani Marchio: I would describe my music as super vibrant, youthful and fun with the heart of it being very honest and real. I am a person that tends to feel emotions in a very big way so my music is definitely and extension of that. I would love to think that you would be able to feel transported as you listen into a world outside of our own.

What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

Dani Marchio: There is definitely lots more music to come! 2025 will be a big year of releases with a little something for everyone to love <3
