The independent rock bands we chose, all brilliantly fuse classic rock elements with modern day sounds. Creating a sound that is new and fresh, without being too overproduced and electronic. Not that there’s anything wrong with more modern, electronic elements, we just thought for this kind of list, it should be more about the instruments and vocals.

Without delay, our choices are Dirty Honey, The Thing, Bad Touch and Robert Jon & the Wreck! These bands all have albums dropped recently that you can push play on the first track and rock out until the end. Their music videos are brilliant, their whole vibes are quintessential Rock N’ Roll! Most importantly for this list, they are independent rock bands. Either on their own labels, or smaller independent labels.

Los Angeles Rock Band Dirty Honey

Dirty Honey is Rock ‘N’ Roll at it’s finest! Every song they release absolutely knocks it out of the park. The band is made up of John Notto on guitar, Marc LaBelle with the vocals, Jaydon Bean on drums and Justin Smolian with the bass. The band kicked off in 2017 out of Los Angeles. Since then, they’ve blown up and toured all over the world. With runs in Australia, the UK and of course America. Dirty Honey has opened for bands like Guns N’ Roses, The Black Crowes and KISS to name a few.

The latest album by Dirty Honey is ‘Can’t Find The Brakes’ which dropped November 3rd, 2023. This album features 11 new original tracks. The whole album is an absolute rocking paradise from front to back. Dirty Honey are famously independent too. Releasing their music under Dirt Records. Dirty Honey’s latest release is their music video for ‘Coming Home (Ballad of the Shire)’. “Being musicians that live on the road, ‘Home’ has become wherever it is that we’re playing music, rather than a particular place. We wanted to showcase our separate journeys, knowing full well that the music will always call us back home.” , says frontman Marc LaBelle on the song. The Thing are a four piece rock band from Brooklyn, New York. This band features Jack Bradely on guitar, Michael Carter also on guitar, Lucas Ebeling on drums and frontman Zane Acord on vocals and bass. Their last album was released with Onion Records. That record is called ‘The Thing Is’ and was released February 2nd, 2024. The album features 11 original tracks and is a really brilliant debut throughout.

They released a music video for the lead single ‘Midnight’. The video is cinematic and shows off the bands personality well. California Rock Band Robert Jon & the Wreck

Robert Jon & the Wreck create their own east coast southern rock in SoCal. The band includes Robert Jon burrison (lead vocals, guitar), Andrew Espantman (drums, background vocals), Henry James Schneekluth (lead guitar, background vocals), Warren Murrel (bass) and Jake Abernathie (keyboards). They got started back in 2011, and have released a lot of music since then.

The latest album, is ‘Ride Into The Light’, which was released August 4th, 2023. But they have a new record set to drop in June called ‘Red Moon Rising’.
