Interview with Rap Artist Kris the $pirit
MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
Kris the $pirit: My cousin would be free-styling a lot there’s where I got it from at around 12.
Later in life it become a powerful form of expression which became very therapeutic for.
Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
Kris the $pirit: At first biggie, Kanye west, lil Wayne and over time I developed my own thing and I started taking the inspirations from my own life and adapted that to production as well.
What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
Kris the $pirit: To leave a cultural imprint on my city and beyond I already did it but you expand on that and also to see where I can take it.
Of course to inspire all artist from my city. I want them to aspire to be perfect and real.
What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?
Kris the $pirit: Greatest concert must have been busts rhymes.
Your latest release is the album ‘The Kings of Dog Town’. How would you describe this album? What’s it mean to you?
Kris the $pirit: The album is a sonic tour of my life and time in the hood where I grew up. We talk about it’s history up until my time there and how shit was.
It’s means alot to finally give context on my life, my lifestyle and how things came to be and why, it’s rich for a fan, they get the genesis of kris the spirit on my album the kings of dog town.
What do you think about the current state of hip hop music right now?
Kris the $pirit: I love the woman are dominating cause these guys been bitches these rappers are poor example of what a real man is I feel, so I’m happy with it.
You have found a lot of success as an artist, what advice would you give to other artists coming up that are looking to find similar success?
Kris the $pirit: Study your craft, develop your own style and sound and do it for you if it’s true to your heart don’t just do it to go viral and clout cause there no money in music any more it has to be pure now.
