Interview with Country Artist Allison Daniels

MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

Allison Daniels: My musical journey kicked off when I was just 12 years old, fueled by a desire to break out of my shell and find my voice in a world that often felt overwhelming. With the patient guidance of my godfather, I dove headfirst into the world of music composition, and from that moment on, there was no turning back. Music became my sanctuary, my confidant, and my ultimate form of self-expression. It’s not just about strumming chords or penning lyrics; it’s about unlocking the depths of my soul and sharing that raw emotion with the world. It became my voice, a medium through which I could navigate and articulate my emotions. So, if you’re ever curious about the person behind the music, just know that creating melodies isn’t just a hobby for me – it’s a window into my heart.

Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

Allison Daniels: Growing up my musical tastes were shaped by a diverse mix of musical influences, each leaving an imprint on the artist I am today. From the powerhouse vocals of Carrie Underwood to the soul-stirring melodies of Chris Stapleton, modern country played a big role in my upbringing. But it wasn’t just country music that captured my heart; I found myself drawn to the timeless classics of rock bands like Foreigner, introduced to me by my father, whose electrifying performance I was lucky enough to witness firsthand. This show I attended fueled my desire to create music that resonates with audiences on a different level. Blues legends such as BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughan, whose music resonated deeply with my godfather, also left an enduring impression on me.

And then there’s Keith Urban – a constant presence in my upbringing, whose authenticity and humility both on and off stage have served as a guiding light in my own artistic journey. Meeting him was a surreal experience that reaffirmed the importance of staying true to oneself as an artist. Each of these influences, in their own unique way, has helped shape the music I create and the artist I aspire to be.

What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

Allison Daniels: As a new artist with big dreams, I’m on a mission to create music that not only resonates with listeners but also empowers them to pursue their passions fearlessly. Through my songs I aim to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and reach for the stars. I believe in the power of music to inspire confidence and drive positive social change. Together, let’s make waves, challenge norms, and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future through the power of music.

What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

Allison Daniels: Singing alongside Keith Urban in 2015 was undoubtedly the pinnacle of my concert experiences. Winning a singing contest to perform a duet with him was a dream come true. The rush of adrenaline as I stood on stage in front of 80,000 people, sharing the spotlight with such a talented artist, is a feeling I’ll never forget. Keith Urban’s presence, his music, and the energy of the crowd created an unforgettable atmosphere. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I’ll always cherish.

Your latest release is the single ‘We Both Know’. What does this release mean to you?

Allison Daniels: The release of “We Both Know” holds a special place in my heart as it draws inspiration from my own relationship journey. This single dives into the intricate layers of how a relationship evolves over time, reflecting on the highs, lows, and everything in between.  This single represents a significant step forward in my musical journey, showcasing my evolution as an artist. I hope “We Both Know” will resonate with others who have experienced similar journeys in their own relationships.

Ya don’t hear a lot of country stars coming out of Quebec City, Canada. Or country artists releasing songs in French! This speaks to you not just being a country artist, but an artist with your own sound. What inspired your love for country music though? What’s the country scene like up there?

Allison Daniels: I discovered country music on the internet, especially on YouTube, when I was younger. Its unique blend of sounds and styles always resonated with me. I appreciate country songs that mix influences like rock, folk, or blues.

In Quebec, French country music has a rich history, but there’s been a growing interest in English-language country music lately, reflecting changing tastes. This evolution shows the dynamic nature of music and our openness to new influences.

This diversity in the Quebec country music scene reflects our community’s openness and inclusivity. It’s an exciting time to be part of the music scene here as we celebrate our heritage while embracing new sounds from around the world.

At such a young age, you’re making a living as a full time musician. What advice would you give to other artists looking to succeed in this difficult business?

Allison Daniels: My advice to other artists aspiring to succeed in this competitive field is to stay true to yourself and to your artistic world. Focus on developing your unique sound and connecting with your audience authentically. Stay committed to your goals and never stop pushing yourself to improve and evolve as an artist. Lastly, remember to take care of yourself both mentally and physically. The music industry can be demanding, so prioritize self-care and find balance in your life.

What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

Allison Daniels: Currently, I’m thrilled to announce that I have a full album ready to launch! I’ve poured my heart and soul into this project, and I can’t wait to share it with the world. In addition to releasing the album, I’ll be hitting the road to perform live shows. I’m incredibly excited about the future and the opportunities to connect with listeners on a deeper level through my music. Allison Daniels: My upcoming album is mostly about empowerment movements, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
