MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.

What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

• Lee Stevens: Thank you so much for this opportunity to talk about my music. It’s humbling and greatly appreciated.

  My mother would say I was born singing lol. Like many artists, I started doing solos in church when I was seven years old and studying voice on a regular basis. Music and performing has always been passionate I believe the Lord just birth in me from the get-go. It was mainly a saving grace to me as a kid who was born with a neurologically-based disability and who struggled socially. I started to become an accomplished performer and that really open doors to connect with people and really be able to express who I was, . The songwriting came later on. I realized that I had not only a knack for remembering lyrics but also for taking songs changing the lyrics to fit whatever the occasion that was going on. That moved me to start developing my own songs as I found that not only would I have lyrics come to me but I would also have a melody popping in my head simultaneously. In addition I realized the communicative power that I found in music and the music has in general. There’s no big rush to me and being able to reach hundreds and thousands of people and touching their hearts.

MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

• Lee Stevens: Oh wow, how do I narrow that down. I was introduced to such a wide variety I’ve artists the family and friends and siblings who are significantly older than me. I would have to answer this question by breaking it into two groups, Christian artist and main stream artists. I was Influenced very early on by Christian artists like the late Keith green who taught me via his music not to be afraid to challenge the listener with the messages of the songs and that you can even temper it from time to time with some humor as well and Artists like gospel great Andre crouch, And Michael W Smith. I’m also influenced by current batch of incredible Christian artist today like Steven Curtis Chapman and Matthew west mercyMe and casting crowns to name a few. In terms of main stream music, I’ve been heavily influenced from Artists as I like to say from back to rock. Elvis Presley is one of My biggest musical heroes because of how he put Everything into all his performances and gave the audience so that he could on each song. I was influenced by older singer songwriters like Jim Croce, James Taylor, jazz grades like Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett etc and Country stars like Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Garth Brooks and many many others Let’s not forget to mention some of the musical theater writers they grew up loving like Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim. There’s just too many to mention but every single one of them has a piece that makes up the entire puzzle of my music.

MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

• Lee Stevens: The ultimate goal of the music that I do now has changed so vastly from my original goals when I started out this journey . My goal is the share The message of how much our heavenly father loves us and longs for a relationship with each and everyone of us and then it doesn’t matter where you come from or what you’ve done, his arm never too short. I want to make that message accessible to people of all different walks of life through my music. As far as my ultimate goals for my career, I want to have the opportunity to take my music and my performing to the next level and be a fully working artist. Hello it has blessed me By allowing my current Single to church in the top 30 in the international indie artists charts and stay in the top 15 those charts. So if He chooses to allow me to have some top hits that would just be the cherry on top.

MuzicNotez: What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

• Lee Stevens: There are two concerts I would say that fall in to that category. Josh Groban with special guest Sarah McLachlan and Bruce Springsteen in the E street band with both Clarence Clemons and Danny Federici before we lost both of them several years ago. It was a beautiful thing to see an artist of Josh Groban‘s caliber for everything he had and every single note with no light up. There was no wall in his performance from beginning to end and his voice and talent are just astounding to behold in person. Springsteen showed why they call him the boss. He in the band played for 3 1/2 hours with no intermission and once again gave a performance where there was no taking the Pedal off the gas. I’ve always found his songs to be modern Day poetry and that was certainly evident hearing him perform one great song after another. Both of those concerts were phenomenal and a privilege to have been able to attend. Especially Groban because I got to attend that one With m beloved wife to celebrate her wedding anniversary that year.

MuzicNotez: Your latest release is your single ‘I’m Not Alone’. What inspired this track? How does it differ from other releases?

• Lee Stevens: I began writing it while we were all going through the whole Covid pandemic in 2020. I initially wanted to write a song to encourage people and let them know that even though they’re all going through a storm, that is Win I heavenly father is the closest. That is when we can hear him the most is when we have to be still and try to wait out the storm. But as I went further into the writing process I realized does this song need to be about something even bigger than that and that Message holds true overall even without a pandemic or something catastrophic going on. The biggest differences for me from anything I’ve done before is that, number one because it was recorded in Nashville it has a country flavor to it. I hadn’t intend to write it strictly as a country song. But, the opportunity to record it at that level shape the style of the song. Secondly. This is my first original song that I put out there for everybody to hear. Up until now, I was basically doing cover music with everything from Pop, country, musical theater, even some operatic pieces.

MuzicNotez: You worked with Nashville label OmniSoundStudios, what was this experience like?

• Lee Stevens: I still feel so privileged to have had that experience. As a kid from a very small town you never imagine getting the chance to have those experiences. First though, I want to humbly clarify that the studio that I got recorded that was called the OmniSounds studio . I recorded it Under an indie music label based they’re called AOK records. They heard my cover stuff online and after inquiring whether I had original pieces and hearing I Demo of this particular song from the YouTube channel, they offered me a one shot deal to produce the single. The whole trip was just amazing. Being there on music row in the heart of music city Or somebody legends and played. Plus, it was humbling and intimidating to have so many gifted people work on my song. The gentleman who played lead guitar on the single played sessions for Garth Brooks and two of the ladies that sang back up on my song, We’re back up singers for Dolly Parton and the great Aretha Franklin. Hearing my son brought to life The way that I heard it in my head and by some of the best musicians in the world just brought tears to my eyes every time. I think it was the only time and I didn’t mind listening to the playback lol.

MuzicNotez: You’re a Christian artist, how does your faith inspire your music?

• Lee Stevens: My faith is the foundation for what I do professionally and personally. I want to put songs out there in which the situation to them singing about for the storytelling if you will is relatable to people of all different walks of life. I never want to come at five for Luton. I want to come off as saying I’ve been where you are and I need to hear this song they’re all just as much is perhaps you do. And again I just want people to know that they have him on my father loves them, once a relationship with them has plans for them and is ready to accept them right where they’re at.

MuzicNotez: What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

• Lee Stevens: What I’m working on right now To continue to wite a lot and refine some of the songs I’ve already written . Most importantly I’m trying to find and perhaps attract the right producers who will share in my visions for my music, and be willing to smooth off the rough edges and honestly I have a lot of them in terms of the technical side. I also need these producers to have access to really good studio musicians who can help bring many of the songs they have in the can currently To pull fruition and help me take them to level than I can’t on my own. I hope in the future that musically speaking my sons will cross side of different genres and represent the many different styles that I’ve been blessed to have the flexibility to perform.

MuzicNotez: Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?

• Lee Stevens: In addition to sharing the message and the songs that the Lord gives me, I hope and pray that If he’s gracious enough to allow me to do this on a grander scale and I can be a real source of encouragement to perhaps other “Lee Stevens” out there Who may be struggling with overcoming a disability like I had to or some other obstacles. I want to be an example of of anything is possible with God and if I can do it you can do it. Sometimes the loudest critics out there are not the naysayers in our lives but It is their own voice and what we say to ourselves. So I hope I can be an encouragement to those who listen to my music and follow me and social media to not only not let anybody else say no to you but don’t you say no to you.
