MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.

• Veronica Fusaro: Thank you for your questions, appreciate it!

MuzicNotez: What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

• Veronica Fusaro: Music was simply something I always enjoyed doing. As a little kid I used to be in the school choir, and whenever there was an opportunity to sing I would be there. In the fourth grade I started playing the guitar, and sometime later I started writing my own songs. I guess I started writing because all of my idols were singing their own songs, so it seemed natural to me that I should also sing and therefore write my own songs. Step by step this thing that I enjoyed doing developed into a passion, and here we are today, being able to make a living from music.

MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

• Veronica Fusaro: Amy Winehouse is one of my biggest influences I’d say. I just fell in love with her lyrics, voice and music, her music feels so real, so honest. Just before I discovered Amy Winehouse I started listening to a lot of soul music, fell in love with many big voices such as Nina Simone or Aretha Franklin. I’d generally say sonically I’m very influenced by the “classic” soul band setup. I need a drummer, bassist, guitarist and keys on stage, I love to put some horns and bittersweet strings in my songs. Then there’s artists like Lana del Rey who I adore, as well as Frank Ocean, both really incredible artists. I absolutely loved Ed Sheeran in his “+” album era. I absorbed every lyric and chord on that album. But really any music I listen to influences me in some type of way.

MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

• Veronica Fusaro: There’s many things I want to achieve. playing at Madison Square Garden one day, playing the amphitheater in Verona… but really just being able to tour the world and have more and more people coming to my shows and listen to my music is one of my goals. Being able to make music for a living for the rest of my life, that’s what I wanna do. Make music that maybe helps other people get through something.

MuzicNotez: What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?

• Veronica Fusaro: Uhh hard to say which one’s my favorite show I’ve ever been to. The two that came to my mind first were a The 1975 show back when they were touring with “I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It” (had to google the full album title) and the Lady Gaga show when she was touring with “Artpop”. Both incredible concerts!

  And one of the most memorable concerts I’ve played was when I had the honor to open for Mark Knopfler at the amphitheater in Nîmes. That was truly beautiful, the setting, the audience (13’000 people)… definitely won’t forget that one.

MuzicNotez: Your debut album ‘All the Colors of the Sky’ is out now and doing great! What does this album mean to you?

• Veronica Fusaro: This is my first ever album, so for me this is a big milestone I have achieved. And I love the way it turned out, I’m really proud of it. It turned out the way i imagined it to sound like, if not even better. I got to work with so many great people who shared their talent with me, which I’m super happy and grateful about.

MuzicNotez: How would you describe your debut album? What was the production process like?

• Veronica Fusaro: I think the album title explains it very well. Lyrically, I’d describe it being a full spectrum of colors, or well, emotions. This record is about life in this modern world of ours, about streaming tears, flaming anger and apathy in the middle of a storm – but also about the bluest of skies that follow the turmoil, the relief of acceptance, healing and falling in love. Sonically, I’d say it’s a mix of soul and pop music. Soul because of the instruments you can hear, and pop because of the structures of the songs.

  The production process of it was me sending demos of my songs to the producers I wanted to work with. Then we’d usually have a few conversations about the world I would like to create for the song and the album. And then we’d record the musicians in the studio.

MuzicNotez: You really have a way with words and lyrics, what inspires the songs you write?

• Veronica Fusaro: Pretty simple answer, life. Anything can inspire me, any feeling I feel or any thing I see happening in this world.

MuzicNotez: You’re just as good in front of a camera as you are behind a mic, really enjoy your music videos. The official music video for the single ‘Weekend’ is just dropping. What was it like making this video?

• Veronica Fusaro: Thanks! We shot the whole video within a day, I left the house around 7 AM ish to get my makeup done and we wrapped it up at 2 AM. So it was pretty exhausting, but the team and crew is so much fun to work with, so it was still a lot of fun.

MuzicNotez: What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?

• Veronica Fusaro: Since I’ll be touring with my band this year, I just finished arranging that setup. Now I’ll start working on my solo setup, and I’ll need to check how I want to play the new songs using my loopstation. I’ll be performing at this years SXSW in Austin, TX, so I gotta make sure my solo setup is nice and clean! 🙂
