Band Interviews

MuzicNotez: What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?

  • Harmony Dreamers: I started playing guitar at 4 years old. I had lessons, but mainly sang and played other instruments by ear. Music has always been there.

I wrote some poetry and a few songs in my youth. I was inspired by music that had a positive message about people getting along, living together in peace. Also, I enjoy artists who incorporate humor sometimes, such as Joe Walsh or Jerry Reed, two artists who also wrote serious lyrics.

MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?

  • Harmony Dreamers: There are far too many. Over the years I learned and memorized thousands of other people’s songs, and I think they may have had some influence. Nevertheless, I’ll name several: The Beatles, Jan Hammer, Automatic Man, Pink Floyd, Jerry Reed, Tommy Bolin, Louis Armstrong, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Chet Atkins, Davol, Avicii, The Weeknd.

MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?

  • Harmony Dreamers: I just love writing songs; I have several hundred. I would love it if my music became widespread, because the message of unity is there, and that’s what I really wish for, regardless of how it happens. My message? You can give, share, love, and nobody can take that away. If they don’t love you back, that’s their business. It’s what you love, not what loves you.

MuzicNotez: What’s the latest release of yours? Tell us about it.

  • Harmony Dreamers: The first Harmony Dreamers album is 12 tracks, with a total of 17 songs. I think a good description is Upbeat and electronic. I wanted to create an album listening experience that leaves a person feeling good.. So many things happened in the making. Each song has interesting back stories. Here is an overview of the album:

It has been called A Global Celebration of Harmony

The first Harmony Dreamers album is an extraordinary group of musicians and singers from around the world.

The humorous title track, “I Come from Earth,” features more than 20 backup singers, representing every continent except Antarctica, which is under international treaty.

The album is a collection of upbeat, family-friendly original songs from producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Byron Lee Scott.

The music is heavily guitar and synthesizer based, with lots of drums, percussion, and amazing bass guitar players. On various songs, there are orchestrations, a vibraphone, a clarinet, and sound effects.

Scott sings all the male vocals, with silky smooth tones and a low, wide vocal range. The album features seven female vocalists, chosen to fit each song, and as you might expect, the vocal harmonies are most interesting.
