Rising pop starlet Hannyta is back with her latest single, ‘Fluctuating,’ all about love and the mixed feelings that come with it. The Hungarian star has been making some truly sweet and memorable tracks of late, and this latest one seems to be her best yet. Today, we’ll be giving the new single a thorough look in our full review, so without further ado, let’s get straight into it!

Despite what we’ve said, ‘Fluctuating,’ is actually a bit of a departure from Hannyta’s usual style. Typically, the starlet makes strong and emotional ballads, but this time she’s gone down the synthpop route. It’s an interesting choice considering how the subject of the song would work great with her normal ballad style, but it’s also a brave one that we think works out quite well.

Exchanging the normal pianos and soft instrumentals for raging synths and tight beats makes ‘Fluctuating,’ a surprisingly fun listen. We nodded our heads along with the music unconsciously quite a lot, and it’s thanks to that catchy synth hook. It grabs your attention and never lets go, taking you along for the ride the whole way through. Thankfully, the song’s length also keeps it from getting grating.

That’s not to say it’s the only instrument that matters though, quite the contrary in fact. There’s a decent amount going on in the single, though thanks to some stellar mixing it never gets too muddy or noisy. Clean production goes a long way to making synthpop that’s good, and we’re happy to see that this fact hasn’t been lost on ‘Fluctuating.’

Of course, the highlight of the song is Hannyta’s vocals, which carry the brunt of the emotional weight thanks to the instrumental’s more catchy vibe. As always, she does a phenomenal job here, really capturing the way love can mess with someone’s head, especially at a younger age. It’s astonishing to hear her hit high notes on this song that many other singers would find impossible to reach.

This emotional gravitas works shockingly well with the music, selling on the confusion and emptiness the singer is experiencing. While it may not seem like it at first, every element of the song works in tandem to sell the effect, and it results in some great music. Hannyta hits it out of the park with this one, we’ll be playing it for weeks to come without end, we’re sure!
