MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.
What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
- Mean Marc Ash: As a professional wrestler from 1989 to well I’m still involved in wrestling, even though I don’t wrestle anymore. In 2003 I got the idea to record an album as something to sell off the souvenir stands to make some extra money I actually had some success. So again, in 2021 with my in ring days behind me I decided to release another album, after a lot of initial success & offers to sing with some national acts since they liked me covers, well I’m gonna keep on pumping them out.
MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
- Mean Marc Ash: KISS first & foremost but Eagles, GrandFunk, AC/DC, The Eagle, CCR….and the whole 80’s hair metal scene is the music I love.
MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
- Mean Marc Ash: Just want to be known as more than a wrestler. I have some acting credits under my belt as well. As far as the music goes, I really just want to see where it takes me. You see I always used to joke when they would tell us wrestlers that we partied like rock stars that no, rock stars party like wrestlers but I take a different approach to life now. I released a song on the first CD, the song isn’t available on the streaming services but it’s the old Lynyrd Skynrd song “Gimme Back My Bullets” and 1 line it that song pretty much sums it up…”I ain’t fooling around cause I done had my fun”.
The first release “Some Kind of Wonderful” was a song I dedicate to my wonderful wife so, look for more songs like that from me. The main thing I want to do, however, is good time, feel good music.
MuzicNotez: What’s the latest release of yours? Tell us about it.
- Mean Marc Ash: Proud Mary, which is available on Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, iHeartRadio, Apple music & etc. When I thought of the song it was really meant to be filler for the 2nd CD I’m working on but, we liked it so much I had to go ahead & release the single. It’s straight fire! I hope everyone will check it out.
