Lisa Lavie is a Canadian singer-songwriter with a voice that soars into the range of some of the best female vocalists of our time — think Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey. Lavie began her singing career at 16, touring with the Canadian hip-hop group Dubmatique. Soon after, she recorded her own demo CD that ended up landing in the hands of a California-based producer who co-wrote Mariah Carey’s first album.
In 2008, Lavie released her debut album, Everything or Nothing, which includes her song that has been viewed over 8 million times on YouTube, Angel. A big voice with outstanding control, she has toured as a vocalist for the contemporary instrumentalist, Yanni, as well as for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Launching a Kickstarter project to fund her Sophomore album back in the summer of 2015, Lavie raised $33,814 — $8,000 over her set goal of $25k. Despite the bumps along the way that would’ve stopped many dead in their tracks, she held strong to her determination to piece together the album. After over a year of anticipation, Lavie and her backers have finally reaped the rewards. On March 21, 2017, Lisa Lavie released her 11-track album. Sophomore will take you on an emotional ride of R&B ballads showcasing Lavie’s powerful and soulful voice. I feel like I’ve just experienced love, heartbreak, acceptance, and the making of a new beginning all in less than an hour. Five words: A movie for your ears.
