Cranky George is a folk influenced indie rock band out of Los Angeles. The group features actor Dermot Mulroney and the co-founder of The Pogues, James Fearnley. On September 16th they released the first single off of their debut full length album ‘Fat Lot of Good’. The single is entitled ‘Nighttime’ and the band describes it as “Big in the way that Coldplay is big”, and “A siren call for lovers – for anyone who’s ever slept beside someone they loved and wished the night would never end.”
The album ‘Fat Lot of Good’ was recorded over a 5 year period of time in Brad’s Seagrass Studio. Cranky George’s music has a really eclectic sound, but features all the staples of folk music such as accordion, violin, mandolin and ukuleles. The vocals feature a lot of perfectly blended harmonies adding real depth to the music. The full album will be released on October 14th so stay tuned for that!
