With an album due in Spring, Mollie Marriott is a new singer-songwriter in the pop mould who is hoping to turn heads with new single ‘Transformer’. The track, co-written by Judy Tzuke, is out now and layers up some top class vocals, some lovely fuzzed guitar and a ballad structure to create something truly special.
It bodes well for the album that Mollie Marriott is an artist who seems to have arrived fully formed and ready to take her shot at the industry. The daughter of Steve Marriott (who found fame a few decades ago as the leading man of the Small Faces band), Mollie already has the pedigree in her genes, as well as the stage experience. For many years she has worked as a background singer to some of the best artists in the world, but now it’s her turn.
It also helps that the video is so striking – a strong conceit for a simple drama starring Danny Dyer and Scott Innes to carry the story. It’s tense, emotional stuff that fits the song perfectly.
