Movie inspired EP release ready for March 31st Colchester based four piece The Lowriders are looking to make an impact in both the music and film industries this month with the release of their EP ‘I Am Soldier’ to coincide with the release of the movie of the same name. The music – four tracks of pounding rock – was written specifically for inclusion on the soundtrack of the film at the request of writer-director Ronnie Thompson (Screwed, Towerblock, Green Street 3). Thompson has been a fan of The Lowriders since their debut album ‘Fury’, and felt their music captured the hard hitting, raw feel he needed for the movie, which stars Noel Clarke and Tom Hughes as soldiers at an SAS recruitment camp. Reading the early screenplay drafts and writing songs based on the protagonist’s battle to complete the brutal SAS recruitment process, particular note was taken of the idea that the lead character was working to ‘be the best he can be’ – a mantra taken up by the band for this self-produced release as a metaphor for their own fight in the dog eat dog world of the music industry. |
