Kemar Thompson, who is more popularly known as, Jr. Pinchers, was born in Rock Hall, Jamaica. Kemar’s musical/Entrepreneurial talents became evident as early as kindergarten, Jr. Pinchers would perform songs upon request for fifty cents apiece. As he grew, he became very involved in his church choir. Jr. was famous for his take of ‘Roll Away’, a popular song at church. Whether it is at school functions or district talent shows, this seven year old boy was always a force to be reckoned with. Jr. Pinchers was a regular performer at “The Black Roses Talent Show” on Maxfield Avenue. Through his teenage years, Kemar Thompson started to feel an intense desire to seriously begin developing his musical talents. Instead of playing sports and such, Kemar dedicated all his time to learning, flourish in famous recording studios, such as Jammy’s, Scorpio, Cali Bud, Young Bloodz, Tiger Records and many more! Jr. Pinchers’ desire to be like his father, meant he spent the majority of his youth listening to music and learning from famous Jamaican singers that were his father’s friends. Some of these friends like Beres Hammond and Capleton became impromptu singing/music coaches. Although he already had his own flair, in the studios is where Jr. Pinchers true approach to music took form. He began writing his own music and recorded his first single ‘Blaze up the Fire’ in 1997. “True Story”, Jr. Pinchers first album, was released by a local label that same year giving him his first hit ‘Unfaithful Lover.” Languishing under a local labels management, Jr. Pinchers reached his tipping point and decided to find a new label and management that would further his creativity and help bring a new style of music to the world. By chance while looking for a local studio to record some Dub’ work, Jr.Pinchers meet Identical Twin Producers Twinz Beatz. The conversation soon turned to music and this lead to time spent in the studio listening to unreleased tracks. In one of these “Vibe” sessions the Twins played a track so alien to Jr. Pinchers “ears” that he requested they “bring it back.” This collaboration lead to the creation of his 2nd big hit “Back Broke” which charted on BillBoard’s top 200 chart. A hurricane of music was created over the next few months and Jr. Pinchers spent more time in the studio and less time touring. During promoting his newest single Back Broke, Jr. Pinchers meet his future wife and took time off from recording and touring to attend to his new born son. Now with Family at his back giving him strong roots to work from Jr. Pinchers has been busy in the studio creating music, a talent he could not turn off when away from the studios. |
