MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you Josey, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.
What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
Josey Milner: I’ve always been singing, no matter when or where. I started singing the National Anthem at my rodeos, which led to me being invited to sing at the National Steel Guitar Convention in St. Louis, MO. It was there that I was told I should get a band together and try out the career. People told me that they thought I had a lot of potential and could go far. So I held auditions, got a band together, and started the career.
MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
Josey Milner: My favorite artist period is Miranda Lambert. My mom and I have followed her career since she was on Nashville Star. I just really love how she doesn’t care what anyone thinks about her and she doesn’t let the fame get to her. Besides Miranda, I still love artists like George Strait, Patsy Cline, Eric Church, Carrie Underwood, Justin Moore, the list can just go on and on. It’s hard to pick just one because there has been so many great country music artist.
MuzicNotez: What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?
Josey Milner: The best concert I’ve been to would either be when I saw Miranda Lambert with opener Eric Church, or when I saw Neil McCoy at the American Royal in Kansas City. They we’re both amazing. As far as the best one I’ve performed at, it would have to be when I opened up for Scotty McCreery. It was so unbelievable and the crowd was great. I was able to walk out on a stage that went into the crowd and people were giving me high fives and wanting to touch my hands, like the stuff that you see at concerts. It was so cool! I like to say it was my 15 minutes of fame. :] Plus, after the concert, I had several people taking pictures of me and signing autographs for them. They were even taking pictures of me if I was just standing there! It was truly amazing!
MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
Josey Milner: I just want to continue playing out with my band and take this career as far as I can. I want people to know that this is what I love doing. Along with this career, I’m trying to help spread the word about bullying along side Angels and Doves, a non-profit anti-bullying organization that I’m associated with.
