I’ve been to a lot of great shows! And I just wanted to tell everybody about one of my favorite shows ever, and recommend it to everybody! It took place at Summerfest, to those of you who do not know what this is; it is the world’s largest music festival and takes place in Milwaukee, WI, on the shore line of Lake Michigan! There’s like 11 free stages there and then one paid stage in what is called the Amphitheater! When I heard on the radio that Roger Waters of Pink Floyd was going to be at the Amphitheater that year I knew I had to get a ticket! So I got one right away and anxiously awaited this concerts arrival.
It was a beautiful summer day in Wisconsin, and the day was finally here! The one day in 2 weeks of Summerfest’s music festival that I’ve been waiting for the most. Some friends and I finally got down to the lakefront, and onto the grounds. We all met up and sat in the grass section of the arena as the sun went down waiting for the show to start. Finally I started to hear the heart beat of “Breath” the first song off of “The Dark Side of the Moon” (arguably one of the best albums ever created) the screens filled up with Pink Floyd images, the lasers started shooting all around, and Roger Waters lead singer of Pink Floyd walked onto the stage. First they played the whole darkside album, as a lit up glowing laser triangle hovered over the stage. It sounded spectacular! It was more than I ever could have imagined! Sounded just like Pink Floyd. Then there was intermission, and they came back after the break with a lot of stuff off “The Wall” and “Animals”. And during “Pigs” they’re was a huge giant blown up pink pig balloon that they had attached to strings and walked all around the stands to eventually release it into the sky towards the end of the song. I watched this giant pink pig float out of the arena and into the sky crossing the whole festival and finally flying out over Lake Michigan. I often wondered how far out it flew until it finally fell down into the lake. I would have loved to find this pig and keep it forever! 😀 Once this spectacle was over and they left the stage, we all began to chant “ROGER, ROGER, ROGER” and of course they finally came back, to a roaring applause! The final song of the encore was “Comfortably Numb”, this was one of the many songs to receive a glowing sea of fire from everybody’s lighters in the area. This was one of the most epic concerts I’ve ever seen, for both my eyes and ears, and I would recommend it to anybody out there!
O and then to top this amazing concert off, one of the free stages which just so happened to be right next door to where I was in the Amphitheater had “The Wailers” playing, of which is of course “Bob Marley’s” band! We ran over to this concert, and were able to catch the last hour of it! This was an amazing topper to an amazing night and I will write about it in my next blog!
