MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.
Introduce yourselves and your rolls in the band. How did you get together?
Tiananmen: Well first of all I am Juan Carlos Rojas I play the keyboard and vocals, Luis Fernando Rojas the guitar (Chato), Sergio Solares (Tula) the bass. We got together in the year 1992 and started with wanting to play original music and immediately started working until now.
MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musicians you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
Tiananmen: Good question. Our influences are Moody Blues, The Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order , Joy Division, The Smiths, U2, Indochine, Talk talk.
MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a band? Any particular message you wish to send?
Tiananmen: Our main goal is to expand on a worldwide level, with our last album “emisor” our message is to listen to our music it is sincere, honest and it comes out from our souls to your ears so you can enjoy it as we do, so we can all be “ONE”
MuzicNotez: What’s the greatest concert you’ve ever been to or performed?
Tiananmen: It will be this year in India and Dubai. In several music fests.
MuzicNotez: You have played together sense 1992, how has your sound changed and evolved over the years of playing together?
Tiananmen: We became more electronic than before, we make our own rhythms and sounds without changing our essence now we use acoustic bass and guitars.
MuzicNotez: Your music crosses a few genres, how would you describe your sound?
Tiananmen: Electronic, new wave, rock, pop, with a mysterious touch.
MuzicNotez: You recently released your latest album ‘Emisor’, how is this album different than your older ones?
Tiananmen: For this album we used more electronic sounds, and beats mixed with bass and acoustic guitar.
MuzicNotez: In your video ‘You Let Me Die’ the main female character and yourselves appear to be tangled or tied up. What does this represent?
Tiananmen: This represents how society can sometimes see other people suffering and doesn’t do anything about it. Our message is you have to help others. Other people need our help.
MuzicNotez: Working on anything new? What can we expect from you in the future?
Tiananmen: Yes, we are. We are currently working on another album and hoping to expand to other countries.
MuzicNotez: Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?
Tiananmen: Yes, we are very excited to send out our message through our lyrics and sounds, and our album “emisor” tells all about that. This year is full of surprises please stay tuned.
