MuzicNotez: What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
- Crystal Sherie: Music has been apart of me every since I can remember. I remember growing up through High School whenever you asked us a question my siblings and I would sing the answers. My first memory of making music was like at 4yrs/ 5yrs old, banging on things to try to imitate the sounds. As far as professionally, I wrote my 1st original poems in High School.
MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
- Crystal Sherie: So of course there is Sugar Hill Gang, Run DMC, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Guns & Rose’s, EPMD, Moni Love, Busta Rhymes…like that entire 70’s, 80’s, 90’s rap era..Snead O’Conner, Cyndi Lauper, Micheal Jackson, Janet Jackson, Big Boi and Andre 3000, to name a few. This is when you talked about real life and maybe selling dope…opposite of this generation that brags on taking peoples life and being drug addicts.
MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
- Crystal Sherie: My ultimate goal to achieve as an artist is to bring something different and relevant to the table. Something that will infuse life and purpose to our generation. To sound like myself and go down in history as one of the best females to ever rap. If I could leave a message it would be don’t die trying to be someone else.
MuzicNotez: What’s the latest release of yours? Tell us about it.
