A Barcelona based band who all grew up in households surrounded by music, it’s little wonder that the four members of Strange Fiction ended up writing and recording their own music. With varied musical backgrounds, their new album ‘Orange’ is a heady blend of genres, particularly rock, indie and pop, with influences as diverse as Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Michael Jackson and Tracy Chapman.
It’s an unusual mix, but one that shines through in the neat pop groove and vocal of lead single ‘Tease Her’ which gives way to a huge rocking chorus. The track – written about a misunderstanding over a girl at a party which may or may not have resulted in a band member being soaked by beer – is a stellar introduction to the raw sound of the band.
Engineered and recorded in Spain by Tomàs Robisco and mastered in London by Andy “Hippy” Baldwin from Metropolis Studios respectively, the album is a triumph, capturing perfectly the edge that the band works to bring to their live sound.
The songs are specially designed to play well live as well as in the recordings, and if you like what you’re hearing above then keep an eye on the band’s social media – they’ll soon be releasing live, acoustic videos of their songs so music fans all around the world will be able to see the quality of this young band for themselves.
‘Tease Her’ is due for release May 18th with the album to follow on June 1st. The most popular MuzicNotez Magazine posts each week are awarded as our “Pick Of The Week“. Help this feature win by sharing it around.
